No soup for you! Next

I had a meeting for Ryan this morning and then went to Bellevue to pick up Trevor to go to a job fair. I dressed up a little bit so I could pass as someone scouting a new job instead of someone's mom who brought their kid there to get a job. The job fairs I have been to have basically been set up like craft fairs...one big room with tables for the headhunters to sit at. I was mistaken today. It was an office. One office. So, I was kind of stuck as to why I was there with my son.

So, I applied for an inbound customer service job while Trevor did the same. Ugh...not what I wanted to be doing but I was dressed up so why not? They put Trevor and I at computers so we could fill out applications. We both got put through to the second round. (Oh no...interview...crap..dont want a job) The company we went to does the hiring for all kinds of different companies in town. Trevor got a job!!! Pending a background check...which scares me in the pit of my stomach. He passed a background check for an apartment so maybe he'll pass the job one.

He was so super excited and for the first time in quite awhile, he showed a good self esteem. Just having someone with a suit on say "we want you. you're not a loser" (in so many words) boosted his spirits today. I'm going to be crushed for him if they call back in a few days and rescind the offer. If all goes well, he starts Monday. It's a great job for him. He'll be working at XM radio making $11 an hour. He was planning all of the things he would do with his money if he gets hired. (about drove me to tears because I'm nervous for him-not that I said anything of course)

Okay, get this. I got a job too. I declined because the hours are noon to 7PM and I'd never see the kids. It's a pharmaceutical rep job. I would love a sales job meeting new (interesting) people but... seeing the kids only on weekends and right before bed isn't for me. The woman said she'd keep me in her database in case they decide to offer a part time position.

After job hunting, we went grocery shopping and I got home in time to fold 3 loads of laundry and now I have to go pick up kids from school.  Be back later....

The funniest thing happened when I picked the kids up. Savannah lost her first tooth. When she was showing it to me, she dropped it on the ground just as the school let out and all of the kids came out of the school. Yikes! Of course when 2 people are crawling on the ground looking for something, others join in....we had teachers, students, and parents looking for the missing tooth. (Hope no one missed their bus ride home) A teacher found it and Savannah put it back in her pocket. So funny...

But, in the middle of all of the commotion, I look around and no Evelyn. People were starting to thin out and still no Evelyn. Then, I notice that I am holding her backpack and coat. hmmm...that means I must have had some sort of conversation with her when she came out? and...she probably told me she was going to a friend's house. hmm....friend? I do know of a friend that she goes to sometimes and she was there. whew....

Quite a bit of excitement for a 15 minute period. huh? Now, what kind of job could match that?
