Christmas Eve Day

Yesterday we packed everyone into the van and drove to Sioux Falls to have lunch with Mick and Sandy. They brought Ruby with them (Barbie's oldest daughter ((Barbie is Sandy's daughter))Anyway, that was a nice surprise!! Sandy is really good at gift giving. She got the kids movies which was absolutely perfect for the 3 hour trip back to Omaha. We watched Mater's Tall Tales, Little Rascals (yes, the original show), and part of Secret Garden.

Trevor went with us (gotta have someone to pinch under the arm in the restaurant) Mackie was with her other family (The biological ones--they treat her badly...we dont like them much) but she's not much on road trips so we probably wouldn't get her to come anyway.

Everyone was hungry again by the time we got back to town so we stopped at 5 guys burgers. We had overly greasy food. The restaurant was dirty, dirty bathrooms, florescent lights, cement floor...bleech.

Ryan had a great time in Sioux Falls. He mentioned twice during the conversations yesterday that he's not happy he does volunteer work all of the time with no pay. He says he wants to stock shelves at Radio Shack. So Monday, I'm going to see if we can find him a real job. He used to get paid when he worked for his last day program but the company switched and now they fold towels for Douglas County for free...kind of mindless if you ask me.

We pulled into the driveway last night and Shari and hubby
pull up with a huge plate of treats. I mean really good treats...like fudge, soft cookies, cherry bing bars.... Delicious!!

I'm getting kind of winded here but I have to tell you, we let the kids open one of their presents already. They chose Ren's present. I had my own motives for this one...I can clean house and bake alone!  I sent Daniel to the store to get markers and stuff to bake cookies for Santa. Christmas is starting off very good :)
